Summary
An educational institution must continuously follow a learning and updating process. Consequently, from IES Gaya Nuño we aim at maturing and improving several aspects related to our work as educators in order to obtain a comprehensive development of our students, paying full attention to their social, emotional, physical and cognitive capacities. This is certainly going to have an effect on the present and the future of an educational community situated in one of the most depopulated areas in Spain. For this reason, our community do need an encouraging and motivational boost to broaden our horizons and expectations for the future in equality and democracy.
In our school, we are already implementing a bilingual programme which, together with our educational proposal, offers a wide range of future academic and working opportunities. Nevertheless, we are certain that this is the right moment to take a step forward and learn from other institutions through training and observation of our European neighbours. Fortunately, our staff has shown a genuine interest in getting involved in a mobility European programme which is going to be the central concept as far as training and learning are concerned, and which is going to have an extremely positive impact both on our students and in our region (Almazán) in the short, medium and long term.
Thereby, the objectives which we have considered with our project "NO+DESPOBLA2" can be summarised as follows:
- Internationalise our school in a near future with projects implying educational foreign exchanges for both teachers and students.
- Culturally, academically and critically enrich all the educational community, from a social, plural and egalitarian perspective within the frame of the European Union.
- Boost creativity and innovation, including forward-thinking, all through our school.
- Reduce school dropout figures, offering students different possibilities and several tools for their academic and personal development.
By fulfilling the above mentioned objectives, we comply with Europe 2020 Strategy, opening our school to a European pedagogical ecosystem based on cooperation, observation, long-life learning and spreading, overstepping all kind of borders.
Achieving the approval of this project would serve as a catalyst both personal and professionally speaking not only for the school as an institution, but also for the teachers; in turn, it would have an impact on both the students and our area, Almazán. Likewise, it would be extremely motivational to get involved in other projects such as K201 in successive years, carrying out a collaborative project together with strategical associations. These associations would be the result of the relationships and contacts established during the two observation periods (job shadowing) and four training courses which make up this project.
